No swine flu panic

A SUDDEN increase in demand for medication to treat swine flu symptoms has prompted the Pharmacy Guild of Australia to issue a warning against using Tamiflu to pre-empt an outbreak of the potentially deadly disease.

“We can't be using up supplies for people who are just worried,” the guild's national president, Kos Sclavos said.

“There is certainly no reason why people should be going to the doctor and pre-emptively getting it. We've got enough supplies.”

The virus has already killed more than 100 people in Mexico but there are yet to be any confirmed cases in Australia.
