No matter the opponent, Marlins confident of victory

THE SCU Marlins are ready to make a run toward the MNC Rugby premiership from fourth position.

The Marlins are confident that it doesn't matter who play they play during the upcoming finals series, they can beat them.

""Everybody we're going up against we've beaten this year," Marlins coach Brett Davis said.

"I think that's more of a confidence booster than anything."

Step one on that path toward glory is facing Kempsey at Crescent Head tomorrow.

Davis said the fact the Cannonballs won their last meeting will act a as a spur for his team.

"I still think we should've won the last encounter we had. We were missing a couple of players and we couldn't hold on and they scored a try right at the death to seal it," he said.

"That was very close and it's going to close again.

"They're playing very attractive football and they've been putting a lot of points on. If we play the way we want to play and we've got the players on deck to do that, we should go alright."

Having a couple of starting backline players return to the squad from injury proved a boost for the Marlins last week and davis said having the speed in the backs available to them means the marlins can go back to playing their best brand of rugby.

"We're playing a bit of running rugby and we're going forward," he said.
