No Christmas gift for drivers at Urunga

A RUMOUR that a section of the Urunga Bypass will be opened for the upcoming Christmas/New Year period has been quashed by Roads and Maritime Services.

There was a suggestion that one side of the bypass would be open over the festive period to allow traffic to travel on one lane in each direction at a reduced speed.

But a Roads and Maritime Services representative said work on the Nambucca Heads to Urunga upgrade will be suspended over the Christmas/New Year break.

There will be no roadworks from Friday, December 18 until Monday, January 4 to minimise impacts on motorists travelling for the holidays.

"The Urunga bypass will open to traffic when the Nambucca Heads to Urunga Pacific Hwy upgrade is completed next year," the RMS representative said.
