No cash for March flood victims

THE decision to grant victims of last weekend’s flood financial assistance has left a sour taste in many people’s mouths.

And Cowper MP Luke Hartsuyker has called the decision to once again ignore those who were caught in the March 31 flood as ‘immoral’.

“There has never been any reason to deny the March flood victims the one-off cash grants,” Mr Hartsuyker said.

“This year we have had major flooding on the North Coast in February, March, May and November.

“The Rudd Government has provided the one-off grants of $1000 per adult and $400 per child to residents affected by the February, May and November events.

“Yet for reasons only known to Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and Federal Minister Jenny Macklin no cash assistance has been provided to those affected by the March event.

“How can Federal Labor sit on its hands for one more day and feign concern for March flood victims.”
