Thief bypasses cash for $1000 worth of beauty products
A GRAFTON nail salon owner has been left devastated by the loss of the tools of her trade in a brazen theft.
De Luxe Beauty in Queen St was broken into sometime between Monday afternoon and 8.20am on Tuesday.
Bizarrely, the offender/s bypassed electronic items and cash in favour of more than $1000 worth of beauty products from two businesses operating within the building.
Nails by Keira was hit hardest, with owner Keira Hampshire being cleared out of all her stock, including nail polish bottles, acrylic powder, glitter, rhinestones and 3D charms.
She had only been set up in the Queen St premises for two months.
"The hairdresser got there this morning and rang me at 9am, and said you need to come down here, the stuff's gone," she said.
"They've taken pretty much everything.
"All these bare shelves... it feels like being punched in the face.
"They've also taken out specific hair colours (from the hairdressing salon) and put them into a beauty case but it was left on the floor in my room."
Mrs Hampshire said forensics had uncovered fingerprints from a small hand, which she hoped could be used to track down those responsible.
The theft means she can't resume work until her product is re-stocked, but, pending replacement product, she plans to be back in business by Friday.
"I don't just do French tips, I do fancy designs, so all of my design items are gone," she said.
"That's taken me a little while to build up and although it's just stuff that's going to take a while to get back again."
Grafton police Acting Inspector Dave Lollback said the investigation was ongoing. Anyone with information on this incident can phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
