Ninja Warrior: 'Sorry Mum, I'm a stripper'
TOWNSVILLE man Matt Wilson, 24, is getting ready for his 15 minutes of fame on new television show Australian Ninja Warrior, which puts competitors through a series of intense obstacle course.
The show is modelled off US reality show American Ninja Warrior and was filmed on Cockatoo Island in Sydney Harbour.
A diesel technician by day and part-time stripper by night, Wilson will make his small-screen debut tomorrow night.
"To be honest I've always loved American Ninja Warrior," he said.
"I actually got tagged in a post this time last year from a friend who saw it was coming to Australia."
The tradie trained for the show with runs along the Strand and up Castle Hill, using the surrounding infrastructure as obstacles.
He says nerves weren't an issue after plenty of hen's night performances.
"I'm usually tearing my pants off every Saturday night," he said.
"I've been in a lot more compromising situations than the show."
Wilson said his mother, who lives in Brisbane, didn't know he works as a stripper and he wasn't telling her before the show goes to air.
"Dad was behind that one ... I asked him if I should tell her and he said 'no, I'm going to film her reaction," he said.
"She's a really nice Catholic lady and she will have told all her friends to watch."
