New Year’s Eve time to show more skin

YOU'VE played it safe and kept it classy for the office and family Christmas parties, but New Year's Eve is a chance to dress a bit more edgier, according to Grand Central Shopping Centre stylist Carolyn Taylor-Smith.

"New Year's Eve is a time to bling it up and show a bit more skin," she said.

As for what was hot this holiday season, Ms Taylor-Smith picked two outfits she thought would be great for any party.

"We've got Shae (pictured) in a white party dress from Cue with accessories from Portmans," she said.

"It's sculptural and very classy, with an asymmetrical neckline.

"That's why I like Cue; they take a classic look and tilt it to make it cutting edge."

Ms Taylor-Smith also picked a black jumpsuit from Dotti for its versatility.

"You can dress it up at night with a pair of heels or wear some wedges with it during the day," she said.

As for colours, she said you couldn't go wrong with black or white.

"White is the new black, they say."

She said you could also change your look with different pair of shoes - ballet flats or wedges during the day, or a nice pair of heels to take it up a notch at night.

WHAT TO BRING IN YOUR PURSE

Ms Taylor-Smith said when she packed up her purse for a night out, she couldn't go past her favourite Chanel lipstick.

"It goes everywhere with me," she said.

She suggested keeping a compact, your phone, keys, money and identification in your purse as well.
