New test of depth for Coffs Rugby

A NEW-LOOK Coffs Rugby outfit will take the field against Kempsey for the opening match of the MNC Rugby season.

The new-look Coffs Rugby side will boost four new players in Robert Denne (scrum half), Nathan Wallace (prop), Caleb Fisher (winger) and Travis Denne (wing).

All players have had exceptional starts to the season and have stood out during the trial games.

Craig Landrigan has been named as captain of the combined team and many feel that that the Coffs boys simply have to turn up to win considering this year’s team is a combination of two strong outfits from last year.

The contention couldn’t be any further from the truth though.

Landrigan will be leading a team on to the field that is trying to cope with the loss of quality players like David Kikai, Joel Riddle, Kelvin Rushworth, Lachlan Chubb and Dwayne Fox who have all moved away.

There’s already some other personnel concerns as well for Coffs Rugby before the kickoff with fly halves Brendan Robins and Richard Officer both ruled out of today’s season opener.

With Nick Joyce and Dylan Hurley missing as well this afternoon’s clash at Crescent Head will be a good tester for how Coffs will fare this season.
