Surfboat survives the christening

CHAMPAGNE corks were flying and streamers were popping recently at Amble Inn where members of Red Rock-Corindi Surf Life Saving Club proudly ‘christened’ their first new surfboat.

And it was thanks to the generosity of sponsors such as Amble Inn, Ken Casson Mazda, Gary McSkimming, Chatswood Hills Florist @ Springwood, Triplex Engineering, Capicon Pty Ltd, Robrand, Alistair (Slim) Peebles, Steve Cansdell, and John Wright Plumbing & Suppliers, that this could happen.

The first opportunity for the crews was the much-awaited start to the North Coast Premiership Boat Series, which Red Rock hosted last weekend at Arrawarra Beach.

Being the first carnival of the series, coast crews were eager to kick the season off, hoping the waves would make the event a spectacular one for the crews and onlookers.

The pressure was on last season’s title holders Red Rock Ragers open mens crew on Sunday.
