New study into cause of cancer

THE NSW Cancer Council is undertaking a landmark research initiative, the CLEAR Study, to assess the influences that may cause cancer.

CLEAR has the potential to discover what really causes cancer.

You, or someone you know, can participate if you have been diagnosed with cancer for the first time within the past 18 months and you are over 18 years old.

Researchers need 10,000 people by the end of 2011 and are only halfway there.

Taking part in the CLEAR Study involves completing a questionnaire and providing a small blood sample, which is optional.

Both are a once-only activity and there are no further obligations.

Partners are strongly encouraged to join too, provided they have not previously had cancer themselves. Email your partner a link to www.clearstudy.org.au

Study documentation is also available in other languages as well as English.

Partners are encouraged to join because they act as the ‘control’ for the cancer patient, having the same diet, similar lifestyle and being cancer free

People can participate in the CLEAR Study online at www.clearstudy.org.au or receive a paper copy by calling 1800 500 894.

This call is free in New South Wales.
