Rector Hanger for Woopi parish

LOVE, hope and forgiveness will be the central message of the new St Augustine’s Anglican rector, David Hanger.

David has recently taken responsibility for the Woolgoolga parish and brings with him years of experience.

He has his wife, Leonie, have just moved to the area after completing 11 years in the Nambucca Heads parish and so they are used to the particular needs, issues and ambience of a small coastal village.

The couple has four grown up daughters and three of them have remained in the Christian ministry and the fourth has just completed university.

Part of the strengths of David and Leonie’s ministry has been their connection with young people and families.

In the past this has helped them create a modern ministry which has a greater connection with a variety of people, in particular through family services and youth ministries.

“The Christian faith offers something to everyone in word and action,” David said.

Leonie agreed: “We have a heart for reaching people who are not involved in the church and who have never been involved in the church.”
