New job for lifeguard

A MAN dedicated to keeping the beaches of Northern NSW safe is hanging up the flags for a new job that will see him patrolling the entire State.

Stephen Leahy, whose role as lifeguard co-ordinator for the North Coast has seen him keeping an eye on beaches at Nambucca, is taking up a new role as manager-Australian Lifeguard Service/Chief Lifeguard, a position that will oversee lifeguarding throughout NSW. Mr Leahy said he was honoured to be appointed to the position.

“I've had a brilliant time up here and have met some fantastic people and I'll enjoy coming back on a regular basis and catching up,” he said.

Scott McCartney will become the new regional lifeguard co-ordinator for the North Coast.
