New health food shop, cafe planned for beachside village

PLANS have been lodged for a new health food store and cafe in a beachside suburb.

Planners lodged an application with the Sunshine Coast Council on December 6 to develop a store and cafe on vacant land next to Marcoola Bakery, at 918 David Low Way, Marcoola.

Lodged on behalf of a company formerly known as Grub Property Pty Ltd, the 220sq m site was initially envisaged to become a double-storey building with 155sq m shop and 199sq m office.

But the proposal was tweaked after carparking requirements and associated costs outweighed the viability of such a development.

The proposal was now to develop a 99sq m shop and 32sq m food and drink outlet, with a building height of 5.3m.

The health food shop was proposed to open from 8am-6pm Monday-Friday and the cafe from 6am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.

Staff and customers could get to the store, if approved, via a rear lane which was accessed via Lexie St or Rex Tce, while pedestrians can reach the shop and cafe from David Low Way.

Carparking was available at the site, with three on an existing land parcel on the David Low Way side and five spaces proposed at the rear of the site.
