New fitness facility transforms classes into a dance party

A DANCE party is the way to shred weight and tone up at the Coast's newest fitness facility.

Barre and Bike combines cardio and strength training to create well rounded dance based workouts aimed at having fun rather then smashing yourself at the gym.

Barre fuses ballet, pilates and yoga in a low impact, high intensity workout, while bike classes are beat-based dance parties where riders burn more than 500 calories in 45 minutes amongst disco lights.

Owners Elisha and Justin Dyck wanted to create a space to escape and allow people to focus on themselves while socialising and meeting new people.

"For us it was creating a sense of community and a place people can come and meet people and escape from whatever kind of a day they've had and just concentrate on themselves in a fun and light environment," Mrs Dyck said.

The couple, who both worked in marketing, discovered barre workouts while they were travelling the world and were excited to open a unique studio to break up standard gyms and CrossFit style classes.

"We just felt like there wasn't much variety on the Coast," Mrs Dyck said.

"There's lot of functional training, gyms and pilate studios, but after travelling around the world and trying out some unique workouts, we thought it was time to give people some fun and unique options for working out rather than the standard workouts you usually get."

Barre and Bike caters for all fitness abilities in an open and inclusive environment.

"I think it's one of those things that people try and really enjoy because it's got that element of fun," Mrs Dyck said.

The brand new Maroochydore studio open its doors Saturday morning with a day full of platters and free classes to give the community the first taste of what they offer.

"It's a chance for people to come in and check out the studio, meet the instructors and try the workouts," Mrs Dyck said.

Spaces are filling up quickly so book in now through www.barreandbike.com.au.
