New Coffs Coast band is a winner

FOUR local lads from Coffs Harbour and Nana Glen make up a new band, Mainstream, which has just won the final of the Northern TAFE NSW Band Competition.

The band formed only six months ago, and two of its members are honing their skills in the Contemporary Music course at TAFE's Grafton Campus, so they look set for a big future.

Mainstream, with lead singer and guitarist Matt Metcher, guitarist Steven Green, bass player Shaun Rayner and drummer Damo Vantongeron are now polishing their repertoire for their next big challenge.

They have qualified to compete at the UNI Band Competition which is being held at the Manning Bar in Sydney on October 9.

“These guys really shine, they have put so much into their studies and performances, now they are set to reap the rewards,” said the head teacher of Music at Grafton Campus, Bruce Vickery.

If you are interested in booking Mainstream for your event you can email them at mainstreamband@hotmail.com or go to www.myspace.com/ausmainstream
