New 840,000 bird egg farm proposed

DHP Consolidated Pty Ltd has applied to Toowoomba Regional Council to develop massive poultry farm at Turallin.

The company's proposal for the property of Avondale at 240 Turallin Rd includes an egg grading floor for the grading and packaging of eggs produced on the property and those from nearby poultry farms.

DHP is seeking approvals for 10 layer sheds that will cater for 600,000 cage free birds and two rearing sheds, which will house 240,000 birds.

According to documents lodged with Toowoomba Regional Council, the farm operation will assist the Queensland Egg industry to meet an identified shortfall in the market capacity for barn/cage-free eggs.
