Naturopath knighted

BOAMBEE natural health practitioner Gary Samer has been invested into the Order of St John of Jerusalem, the Knights of Malta.

The award recognises his 30 years of work and teaching in 14 countries in the field of natural health.

He said the recognition was a complete surprise and he was honoured and humbled by it.

“I do my work because I love helping people and teaching them how to take care of themselves naturally,” he said.

The investiture ceremony took place in a 16th century palace in Malta. Originally from Buffalo, New York, Mr Samer migrated to Australia in 1985 from a famous Scottish spiritual community, Findhorn.

Trained as a reiki master teacher, he taught in Europe and North America before emigrating to Australia, where he introduced and popularised the seven level system of reiki.

He became the Australian and New Zealand agent for the Sir Jason Winters range of herbal teas in 2001.

Mr Samer continues to administer a naturopathic help service from his Boambee clinic.
