Nationals open nominations for Oxley preselection

NOMINATIONS for NSW Nationals preselection for the seat of Oxley are now open after the resignation of NSW Nationals Leader Andrew Stoner.

The Oxley electorate stretches from the Dorrigo plateau in the north, and includes the towns of Bellingen, Urunga, Nambucca Heads, Macksville, Kempsey and South-West Rocks down to Wauchope and the Hastings Valley in the south.

Party chairman Bede Burke expects a strong field of candidates for the December 13 preselection.

"The Nationals have an extremely high level of support in the Oxley electorate, and we hope that a number of prominent members of the community will put themselves forwards as candidates" Mr Burke said.

"The people of Oxley have been well represented by Andrew Stoner for 15 years and now it is time for someone else to take up the fight on their behalf".

Nominations for the preselection close on Friday, November 14.
