Nasty smash on Bucca Rd

AS many as four people had to go to hospital after a nasty smash at Bucca late on Thursday.

Police and paramedics rushed to the intersection of Central Bucca and Bucca roads when the call for help went out at 4.50pm.

Police said a blue 1994 Holden sedan driving north on Central Bucca Road approached the Bucca Road intersection and attempted to turn right.

Investigators say the driver failed to give way to a Mitsubishi utility heading west on Bucca Road. The ute driver braked heavily and veered to the right to try and avoid a collision, but the manoeuvre failed.

The driver of the Holden, a 20-year-old man, and his 18-year-old female passenger were taken to Coffs Harbour Health Campus, along with the 42-year-old male driver of the ute and his eight-year-old female passenger. None of them suffered life-threatening injuries, but the vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
