NAIDOC festivities begin

NAIDOC Week started on the Coffs Coast on Monday with a flag raising ceremony at the Coffs Harbour City Council chambers.

The theme of this year's celebrations is "We All Stand on Sacred Ground" acknowledging learning, respect and celebration of country.

NAIDOC Week awards were presented to exceptional members of our community, including Kayanna Donovan (youth of the year), Chris Spencer (Coffs person of the year), Kerrie Burnet (female elder) and Barry Hoskins (male elder.)

Mayor Denise Knight said she looked forward to joining in the week-long celebrations, which continues today with the Mid North Coast Local Health District's "Who You Gonna Call" forum with more than 60 organisations showcasing their services.
