NAB Cycle Classic provides fun and games for Brad and mates

IT'S RIDERS like Brad Acheson who make the NAB Coffs Coast Cycle Challenge such a great event.

Visiting from Dubbo with wife, Sophia, Brad completed the 60km ride in 58th position with a time of 2:02.36.

Rather than going all out to win, it was a fun ride with close friends from the western city and they didn't miss the opportunity to have some fun with him (see photo) while checking the placings on the noticeboard.

"This is the first time I've taken part in the ride and I'll certainly be back again," he said.

"Sophia doesn't get on the bike, so it's as much a short holiday for the both of us.

"I mentioned the possibility of coming over to the coast and the bike ride just happened to get wedged into the thought process."

While winter still has a month remaining, semi-summer conditions helped bikers create a thirst.

"I didn't feel the heat at all," Brad said.

"Back home it's around minus two most mornings, so this is like paradise."

Local entries were down for this year's staging but swelled from out of town with about 110 postcodes represented.
