Mystery screams heard from inside van

POLICE are appealing for assistance to locate a white van seen in Grafton on Tuesday afternoon, after members of the public reported hearing screams coming from inside.

Police from Coffs/Clarence Local Area Command were contacted about 1pm on Tuesday by two members of the public reporting they heard screams from the van on Duke St.

Police are now appealing for public assistance to locate the van.

It's been described as being an older-model white van with a sliding door and no rear window.

Police have been told a man was seated in the front passenger seat as the van was last seen driving east along Duke St.

At this time there have been no reports of missing persons but police are keen to speak with the van's driver to establish the circumstances of the incident.
