Must win match for home team

YARALLA face a moment of truth and its own destiny tomorrow from 10am on its home turf.

It faces a side that potentially could be its grand final opponent in the Gladstone Cricket Incorporated decider in nine days.

Top side The Glen stands in the way when the two sides meet.

As with sides, in any code of sport, which finish on top of the ladder, they have a tendency to 'rest' players.

Yaralla will certainly be hoping this is the case and it certainly has the talent to cause a major upset.

Captain Jason Batchelor believes his team has the goods to do just that.

"By all means we are and we know we can match it with The Glen," Batchelor told the Observer.

If that is the case, then it will leapfrog Brothers which have the bye - and cement an unlikely grand final berth.

Batchelor, Waqar Yunus and Trent Sorohan lead the way for the hosts while The Glen skipper Jason Seng has been in sparkling form for the large part of the season.

"The Glen's first four or five batsmen...we need to not let them settle and get them out cheaply and contain them," Batchelor said.

He added that the return of Harry Fordyce will strengthen Yaralla's top order.

"We're at full-strength and we've got to bowl in the right areas," Batchelor said.

"They have Seng and Liam Kirk who have been batting well."

Seng's fellow opening batting partner Kirk was impressive with his 77 last weekend and will be keen to continue that form.

If The Glen fields the side that played last Saturday, then Yaralla will find the going tough because it also boasts the likes of wicket-takers Sam Lowry, Matt Lait and Michael Matz.
