Murderer was known to victim

A MAN charged with the murder of a 21-year-old Macksville man knew the victim before allegedly stabbing him in the street outside his home, a court has heard.

Former Macksville High student Adam Flarrety died en route to Kempsey Hospital after emergency services found him suffering from stab wounds to his abdomen at a Stuarts Point address at 2.30am last Sunday.

Stuarts Point man Brendon Aaron Mark Henry Lynch, 24, was arrested later that day and charged with murder. Lynch appeared at Kempsey Local Court on Monday, Rural Press reports.

Kempsey Police Detective Sergeant David Frewin said the victim and Lynch knew each other, and he believed the victim was stabbed during a confrontation in the street near his Stuarts Point home.

Police have so far been unable to find a murder weapon and investigations continue in the area.

Lynch was remanded in custody to reappear via audio link to Port Macquarie's District Court on May 18.
