Murder accused in local court

COURT matters for a Coffs Harbour man charged over the alleged rape and murder of a two-year-old have been adjourned to the new year.

Thomas Lock was arrested in May last year after the 23-year-old allegedly raped and murdered his defacto's daughter at their Coffs Harbour home.

The alleged incident occurred when the toddler's mother was away from the house for 20 minutes.

The toddler tragically died the next day and the autopsy led police back to the home, where Lock was arrested.

In a mention before Coffs Harbour Local Court on Tuesday, magistrate Robert Walker adjourned proceedings to April 4 for a committal hearing.

The hearing will determine if the charges will be heard in the District Court or Supreme Court.
