A EUMUNDI mum is calling on the Sunshine Coast to help get her invention off the endangered species list and released into the hands of families.

Hejira Convery has spent the past three years developing Zoolu, a bright, child-friendly card game with a wild twist.

It was while camping in Kakadu, "hoping that a crocodile wouldn't unzip her tent for a game of snap", that the former Sydney resident invented the game, which features 26 wacky animal characters.

Growing up playing games such as Uno, Ms Convery said she had always had a passion for children's entertainment.

"I've always enjoyed the social side of games, but I've always loved fun kids' entertainment as well," she said.

In Zoolu, players collect different sets of animal cards, called Wild! Cards, which come in five different colours and five types: green, blue, orange, white and pink, and cheeky, freaky, zany, cutesy and cruisy.

The aim of the game is to collect a full set of one card colour or type, then be the first to roar "I'm wild!".

Zoolu is suitable for children aged seven and up, but Ms Convery said the strategy side of the game, introduced through trouble-making Koas! cards, would also appeal to adults, making it the perfect

family game.

The cards are designed, the game tested, and the manufacturer is on standby. Now all Ms Convery needs is funds to get Zoolu off the ground.

She has taken to crowd-funding website Kickstarter, with the aim of raising $16,438 by June 4.

At the time of print, 28 backers had already pledged $3,081.
