Maranoa MP racks up more than $200,000 in expenses
YOU could buy a family home in Stanthorpe for the price of Bruce Scott's expenses in just six months.
The Member for Maranoa racked up $220,075.91 in his Parliamentary Expenditure from July 1 to December 31 last year.
Travel was a big part of the expenses with more than $74,000 spent on airfares, charter flights and car costs.
With more than 700,000sqkm to cover, Bruce Scott's electorate is one of the biggest in Australia.
Working away from home also paid off with the parliamentary travel allowance adding up to $18,969 for Mr Scott's 64 nights on electorate and government business around the country.
Office costs for Mr Scott's Roma office are more than $17,000 and included $782.76 for water refills for the office.
Keeping up to date with news around his large region cost $1596.33 for Mr Scott's subscriptions to various newspapers including The South Burnett Times, Stanthorpe Border Post and Dalby Herald.
With plenty of printing in his electorate office, $2725.55 was spent on paper and $258.30 was spent on staples within his office.
Mr Scott was far from the biggest spending Queenslander in Federal Parliament, with Member for Longman Wyatt Roy spending $510,189 in the same six-month period.
