MP on the road again

LUKE Hartsuyker is taking a bike ride around his Cowper electorate.

The Federal member started his ride on Monday and is taking three days to ride through the electorate to raise awareness and money for the Disabled Surfers' Association (DSA).

“By providing people who otherwise would not have the opportunity to enjoy surfing, the DSA is doing a tremendous job,” Mr Hartsuyker said.

“Such activity is not only physically beneficial but it has the capacity to improve an individual's confidence.”

Mr Hartsuyker and his riding companion, Leeann Lloyd from the Mid North Coast Disabled Surfer's Association, took a break at Coffs Harbour's Park Beach Plaza yesterday before heading onto Urunga, and Macksville.

Mr Hartsuyker said that organising open days for the DSA doesn't come cheaply and he is very appreciative of all the support he has received on his ride.

“When I approached Bananacoast Credit Union they welcomed the chance to support such a worthwhile organisation. Coopers Australia, Bob Wallis Cycles and Col Roberts Signs have also come on board as associate sponsors.”

Mr Hartsuyker said all donations can be sent to his office at PO Box 2056 Coffs Harbour, NSW, 2450. Cheques should be made payable to the Disabled Surfers' Association.

Ms Lloyd said that the DSA is always in need of volunteers and anyone interested can visit the website
