MP gets on bike for charity

COWPER MP Luke Hartsuyker will be pedalling his heart out in coming months.

Mr Hartsuyker has launched his 2011 charity bicycle ride which will raise funds for two organisations in his electorate.

The ride will start in Maclean on May 2 and end in Kempsey on May 4.

“As in previous years the Mid North Coast Disabled Surfers’ Association will be a major recipient,” Mr Hartsuyker said.

“In 2011 the Macleay Vocational College will also receive half of all funds raised. The college provides education to students who are at risk of not receiving basic schooling.

“In the past we have had community groups host barbecues and some individuals join the ride for part of the trip.

“If anyone would like to get involved, simply call my office on 6652 6233.”

BCU chief executive Lyndon Kingston said the BCU was an enthusiastic supporter of Mr Hartsuyker’s annual charity ride and was proud to be the ride’s major sponsor for the third year running.

“Funds generated in past years have made a meaningful difference to the Disabled Surfers’ Association which brings happiness and a feeling of freedom to many children and adults in our region,” Mr Kingston said.

“BCU is committed to supporting youth, education and a healthy lifestyle.”
