A MOTOR home was destroyed by fire from an unknown cause in Bonville this morning.

Passers-by reported the blaze on Archville Station Rd at 10:23am.

The flames sent a plume of smoke billowing over Bonville, visible from the Pacific Hwy and Coffs Harbour.

It took fire crews around 40 minutes to bring the flames under control.

Fire crews said the homeowner was present at the time and was evacuated from the front of the building.

There were no injuries, but the motor home was a total loss as well as an adjacent shed.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
