Mother calls for attempted murder charges after bomb attack

THE mother of a teenager whose hands were blown off after a homemade bomb exploded has called for the boy who threw it at him to be charged with attempted murder.

Michael Boggan, 15, lost most of his fingers after a golf ball filled with explosives detonated in a backyard west of Brisbane on Friday afternoon.

It is believed he was sitting with a group of friends when he was thrown the homemade bomb and it exploded in his hands. Two boys were seen running running from the house immediately after the blast.

Michael's mother Rebecca said the explosion was not an accident and has called for charges to be laid against the teenager who threw the bomb at him.

Three teenagers aged between 15 and 18, were taken to Ipswich Hospital with minor injuries following the explosion and all have been questioned by police, but no charges have been laid. Police are still waiting to speak to Michael.
