More injury woes for Giants recruit Brett Deledio

STAR GWS recruit Brett Deledio has copped another setback as he attempts to return from an ongoing calf issue.

The Giants confirmed on Sunday that Deledio had injured his left calf - not the right calf that the utility has had issues with this season.

GWS said the injury was a grade one calf strain, though the club was unable to put a time frame on Deledio's return at this stage.

The 30-year-old had only returned to the Giants' main training group for the first time on Thursday morning, having been sidelined since February - when he initially hurt his right calf.

Due to his injuries, Deledio has yet to make his debut for the Giants.

The Giants traded their 2017 first and third-round draft picks to Richmond last year in exchange for Deledio.

The explosive utility had been viewed as a key piece of the puzzle in helping the Giants take the next step towards securing an inaugural premiership.

Deledio played 243 games for Richmond after being selected at Pick 1 in the 2004 AFL Draft, kicking 182 goals.
