More than $9K raised for Sam
THE community golf day held at Coral Cove Golf Course on Sunday to raise funds for leukaemia sufferer Sam Ross is set to raise more than $9000 for the family.
One of the event organisers, Joe Giuliano said at last count $8800 had been raised to help the family.
"We still have a few more things to add," he said.
"We have had a barbecue that was won by one of our friends and he has re-donated it.
"So we will auction that and while we won't get to $10,000 but we will be pretty close."
The NewsMail reported last week that Sam suffers from a rare strain of leukaemia that has forced the family to relocate to Brisbane as he undergoes treatment.
The four year old needs a bone marrow transplant and the family found out recently that Sam's two-year-old brother Ryan provided a perfect tissue match.
Sam's father, Justin, who attended the golf event, said all the funds raised would help to pay for medication, transport and accommodation.
