Mooloolaba Lions have donations in the bag

MOOLOOLABA Lions Club members have embraced the State Government's ban on single-use plastic bags at their Fishermans Road Market each week.

They recently started giving out environmentally friendly bags for free to customers who attend the market on Sundays.

Inside the bag, the club included information on how market funds have been dispersed throughout the community over the past 19 years.

These have included: Lions national projects; drought and bushfire assistance; youth programs; local community welfare programs; and local community assistance.

For the 2017-2018 financial year, beneficiaries received $177,154.

In total, $2,044,154 in funds have been donated.

The Lions Club wished to thank stallholders as their site fees provided the funds needed to make those donations.
