Monster Slide organisers cancel this weekend's event

THE giant slip and slide event promised to come to the Sunshine Coast this weekend has been cancelled...for now.

Monster Slide has added a note to its ticket sales page stating there was a "new date" and that ticket holders are still valid.

The 220m slide, which was planned for Burgess St at Kings Beach this Saturday and Sunday, will now take place on September 12 and 13.

The site does not indicate why the dates have changed or whether refunds would be available for those who did not wish to take part on the new dates.

Just three days ago, Monster Slide was promoting a ticket giveaway on its Facebook page for the event on May 16 and 17 with no mention of a date change.

The Daily is seeking comment from the Monster Slide organisers today.

Organiser distanced themselves from a recent problem-plagued event in New Zealand when the Daily quizzed the company on the complaints.

Monster Slide organisers were heavily criticised by some patrons who had demanded refunds after being forced to wait in a line for up to three hours in Christchurch.

There were also concerns over safety with a man knocked unconscious and claims people as young as 16 were monitoring safety.
