Relay for Life building momentum
RELAY for Life may be 102 days away on the Coffs Coast but fund–raising has started towards the target of $130,000.
Seven early-bird teams have already registered for the May 28 relay, kicking off the Cancer Council’s collection with $8296 in donations.
One team, The Resort, has entered for a third year and will be easily recognisable on the day, with members dressing in beach-themed attire.
“Each of the eight local members has been touched by cancer through loved ones, which is their motivation for participating in the relay and for the money they raise each and every year,” team member Nicole Bradley said.
An information night on the charity event will be held on March 8 at Club Coffs on West High from 5.30pm.
The teams registered so far include The Resort, Coffs Plumbing Supplies, Brown & Hurley Trailer Trash, Brian Hopwood Homes, Jesus Christ Superstar cast, crew and fans, Sawtell Rotary Club and Bits and Pieces.
Relay for Life will be held at the Coffs Harbour Sport and Leisure Park on May 28 from 10am.
Early bird registration of $15 per person must be paid by May 13, while registrations after that date will cost $20 each.
The Survivors Walk will be held on the day from 2.20pm, with a candlelight ceremony of hope to follow at 5.30pm.
More information sessions will also be held on April 7 and May 18 at Club Coffs on West High.
