Moffatt's Commonwealth Games lead-up faces health hurdle

THERE'S only nine days to go until she competes in the Commonwealth Games but there's some fitness concerns for Woolgoolga triathlete Emme Moffatt.

The Olympic bronze medallist and two-time world champion was unable to finish a sprint distance event over the weekend.

Moffatt succumbed to a mysterious breathing problem in her final hit-out before the Commonwealth Games.

Team performance manager Bernard Savage said the 29 year-old ad a small fall and suffered a bruised calf and ribs and theorised it may have had something to do with her breathing.

"It certainly isn't something she has had any problems with in the past so it could well be connected with the fall - we'll check it out," Savage said.

The triathlon events in Glasgow are being held on Thursday, July 24.
