Modern ballet draws on classic

TAKING inspiration from the age-old classic, Swan Lake, the Melbourne Ballet Company’s latest production Archè will be on the Coffs Coast in August.

Set to music by Jeannrenaud, Morricone, Einaudi and Tchaikovsky, the Melbourne Ballet Company’s production embodies much of the emotion, line and silhouette of the swan, while exploring the forces of earth, wind, air and fire.

This ballet explores and embraces much of the original narrative and some of the classical repertoire and director, Simon Hoy has structured this work around his unique choreographic style.

Archè is the Greek word meaning the beginning, the principle from which all things arise, the force that explains their birth and death.

This emotionally charged production has received positive critical reviews and is suitable for audiences of all ages.

This production has Simon Hoy, evoke the powerful symbolism and ethereal image of the swan within Greek mythology and Irish folklore composing a powerful and uplifting program of contemporary ballet.
