A REVVED-UP crowd showed their appreciation as the first round of Miss V8 Supercar entrants strutted their stuff at the Racehorse Hotel.

The competition kicked off with a sizzling start on Friday night with seven beauties setting the runway on fire.

Entrants were scored by a panel of judges on swimwear and sportswear as well as their general stage presence.

Veterinary student Stefanie Reid was among the four lucky ladies to make it through to the final heat, which will be held on July 24.

The 25-year-old was a crowd favourite, with some of her former Bremer State High School classmates turning out to show their support.

"I've taken part in these kinds of model searches before," the Gatton beauty said.

"It's always a bit terrifying in the moments just before you step out onto the stage.

"Once you are out there though, you relax and enjoy it - it's actually a lot of fun."

Miss Reid said her biggest concern going into the finals was wearing the same outfit as another entrant.

"For the sportswear round in the first heat of the contest, I went with a gridiron-theme," she said.

"I'm going to try something new for the finals though.

"It's always a scary thought that you will wear the same kind of outfit as one of the other girls though - hopefully it won't happen."

The contest is hosted at the Racehorse Hotel in Booval by Aurora Model Management and will continue this Friday at 8pm.
