Mob rules in Muster round-up

MUSTER campers from all over the country were being rounded up yesterday to attend tomorrow night’s Pre Muster Party, followed by the Mary Valley Show on Saturday.

Community worker Sue McMah organised a herd of small livestock to be mustered through Amamoor Creek Campgrounds to publicise both events in a big way.

Kelpies trained by Sean Barrett from Black Dog Livestock Education’s dog handler school worked the mob and put on a good show for the campers to get the word out.

The Pre Muster Party will start at 4.30pm tomorrow with a concert on the Gold City Centre Stage featuring AICM bands. The headlining act is Muster favourite Travis Collins, who is due to perform at 7.30pm.

Don’t miss a solo performance by Caitlyn Shadbolt, upcoming band Disbanded, Lance Friend and Band and much more. Registered buskers can win a chance to perform at this year’s Optus Gympie Music Muster in the Unplugged Busking Competition.

The Mary Valley Community invites Gympie and Sunshine Coast residents along with Muster campers to head out to Imbil on Saturday for the annual country show. Join the day’s festivities from 8am with a full program of rodeo and ring events. The rough riders start at 1.30pm, including saddle bronc, bareback ride and the Mary Valley Show Society bull ride. With $1500 prize money up for grabs, you can be sure of thrills and spills for everyone.

The Mary Valley Rodeo, NRA affiliated, is now one of the largest in South East Qld. Ring events begin at 8am with showjumping, led classes, hack classes and junior riding classes.

Live entertainment starts at lunchtime and the Duke Wilde Band supported by other local bands and artists will play from 5pm. Fireworks begin at 7.30pm.
