Mixed bout and mayhem revenge in roller derby

IT'S A clash of the sexes tonight at Sportz Central where Coffs Coast Roller Derby men's team, the Bruise Brothers, takes on a women's combination representing Port Macquarie, Lismore and Armidale.

While this one will be fun to watch, the big event has Coffs Harbour's own Daughters Of Mayhem, shaping up to The Empire, a B-division team from Sydney's South Side Derby Dolls.

Known as S2D2, South Side first played Daughters Of Mayhem at the end of 2013 in a state-wide tournament and took the Coffs ladies down with a substantial point differential.

Daughters Of Mayhem captain, Without A Trace, won't hear of defeat on this occasion.

"Our local teams have been working on new strategies to beat the Sydney-siders," captain W.A.T. said.

"With an updated rule set and new skaters in our team, we're really excited to be playing S2D2 again.

"Our strategy has evolved so we're now a much stronger blocking unit and our jammers are faster and more aggressive then ever."

Tonight's event is titled Revenge Of The Mayhem and has a Star Wars theme as the S2D2 players are massive fans of the famous film franchise.

Coffs Coast Derby Dolls encourage spectators to come along dressed in their best Star Wars attire.

Doors open at 4.30pm with the first bout starting at 5pm.

Tickets can be purchased from C.ex Coffs, at the door or online from sticky tickets.com.au. This event is fully licensed.
