Missing couple on the run - Police concerned

A WOMAN remains missing after a violent altercation in Goonellabah on Friday night.

Police are continuing to search for 28-year-old Leon Edward King and are concerned about the welfare of Hannah Schofield who may be travelling with him in the Lismore area.

About 11.20am on Friday, a 28-year-old man was assaulted in Rous Street Goonellabah.

The man was taken to Lismore Hospital and treated for head injuries.

Police attended an address at Dunoon regarding the welfare of Ms Schofield after the incident.

She was not able to be located and police are concerned for her safety.

Ms Schofield is 23-years old,150 to 170cm tall with a medium build. She has a fair complexion with long dark hair. It is believed she was last seen wearing dark clothing.

Police also wish to speak with 28-year-old King and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

He is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Island appearance, approximately 185cm to 190cm tall, of a large build, with black hair, with a black beard and moustache.

It is believed the pair are in the northern rivers region. Richmond Police acting Inspector Anthony Smith said some information had been provided by the public but police had yet to have a breakthrough on the case.

Anyone who sees King or Ms Schofield, or believe they know his whereabouts is urged not to approach him but to contact Triple Zero (000) immediately.
