THE combination of open-pit mining and our region's high rainfall is a recipe for environmental and economic disaster.

The looming threat of mining activities on the Dorrigo Plateau is a serious risk to some of the most important assets of our region, including our environment and the health of our water.

The community and our leaders (of all political persuasion) need to stand united against these irresponsible and short-sighted ventures before long-term damage is done.
