Miles in Aussie assault

PARK Beach bowler Matt Miles has been part of Australia's fight back in the Trans Tasman series against New Zealand being played at Hendra Nundah Bowls Club in Brisbane.

Playing in the Under-25 squad under the direction of another former Park Beach professional, Cameron Curtis, Miles has played a starring role in all triples and fours victories on the opening two days of competition.

But it wasn't enough to stop the Kiwis claiming battle honours on the first day of play after Australia lost the singles, pairs and fours.

A count-back victory on Saturday put the host nation back in contention and no clear winner had been determined as play continued, late yesterday afternoon.

Miles combined with Carl Healy and David Ferguson to win the triples matches, 14-13 and 33-10.

Sean Baker was added to the fours team and the quartet went down 8-18 (Friday), before bouncing back 17-9 in their second outing.
