THE Mid North Coast has risen to the top of New South Wales' lotto hotspots for 2015.
$62.4 million was awarded in division one winnings by Mid North and North Coast residents in the past twelve months - the second highest region in the state.
More than half that figure came from a lucky South West Rocks ticket holder who was prized $35 million on November 10.
The 18-game QuickPick entry was the only winning ticket in the draw and was purchased from South West Rocks Newsagency.
The latest statistics released by NSW Lotteries revealed Wallsend had the most number of division one winning tickets with three wins totalling more than $3.3 million in first division prize money.
NSW Lotteries spokesperson Belinda McDougall said while it's great to crunch the numbers and see where the division one wins were won in 2015, "it doesn't mean a ticket purchased in those suburbs has a greater chance of winning than any other ticket."
"While some people are superstitious in deciding where they will purchase their entries from, it is important for players to remember that lotto is a random game of chance," Ms McDougall explained.
"Regardless of where a ticket is purchased, every number on every ticket has an equal chance of being drawn."
