THE Mercedes-Benz Club of Queensland enjoyed its annual Christmas Run last Saturday with a cruise from Brisbane to Maleny via the Garry Crick Prestige showroom in Maroochydore for morning tea.

A wide variety of Mercs of all vintages joined the cavalcade, as owner-enthusiasts from Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast and beyond took advantage of perfect driving conditions for the scenic event.

“We really enjoy being affiliated with the club, and support them any way we can,” said Abby Douglas, marketing manager at Garry Crick Prestige. “We put on some food and drink for them, and in all we welcomed 120 people and over 50 cars.”

There was a host of rarities to be seen, including John Cork's sublime 1967 250SL Pagoda, one of just 5000 produced by the Stuttgart company. The desirability of these convertibles see them reaching sale prices of more than $100,000.

Those who prefer some serious engine displacement with their sportscars need have looked no further than Terry Kirwan's 1986 560SL, boasting a strong-pulling 5.6-litre German V8 and red-wall tyres to match its flawless paintwork.

Still looking a very comfortable cruising machine was Eumundi resident Robyn Jenvy's 1985 280CE, complete with its luxurious and very-1980s light brown interior.
