Men's Shed opens at Coffs

PETER Murphy will be swapping his power drill for a pair of barbecue tongs today.

The manager of the Coffs Harbour Men’s Shed will be firing up the barbie and manning the sausage sizzle with the rest of the team to welcome everyone along to their free open day, which happens from 9am to 1pm today.

The Coffs Harbour Men’s Shed at 3/22-24 Marcia Street, Coffs Harbour, is a place for men of all ages and from all walks of life to get together, build stuff, share a cuppa and make a few new mates.

“The shed is as much a place to meet as it is to work,” Peter said.

“It’s all pretty casual with no obligation ... come in when you want, stay as long as you want and do as much or as little as you want.

“We have equipment and tools to produce all sorts of primarily woodworking projects.

“We have some specific projects to work on or you might have ideas of your own.”

The Coffs Harbour Men’s Shed is part of a nationwide concept which works towards the passing on of traditional skills, the development of mateship, the promotion of men’s health and well-being and helping the community.

Regular opening hours are Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, between 8.30am and 3.30pm.

For more information drop in and see Peter at the Men’s Shed today, or call him on 6652 5420.
