Men hospitalised after single vehicle crash in Mullaway

TWO men have been admitted to hospital after a car burst into flames north of Coffs Harbour last night.

A 24-year-old driver and his 33-year-old passenger were travelling northbound on Solitary Islands Way just before 10pm, when the Holden Sedan veered off the road and collided with a tree on the western side of the road.

The passenger freed himself from the vehicle and pulled the driver from the car before it was engulfed by flames.

Emergency services were called to the scene near Mullaway Dr and the men were conveyed to Coffs Harbour Hospital.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the 24-year-old was in a critical condition, and the 33-year-old was stable.

The crash site was closed with detours in place while Forensic investigators examined the scene last night and again this morning.
