Men on a mission
TWO inspirational men on a heroic mission to conquer motor neurone disease will arrive in Coffs Harbour tomorrow.
Scott Sullivan, a finance industry executive from Brisbane, and Dr Ian Davis, a medical specialist from Melbourne, are riding from Brisbane to Sydney on a specially constructed tandem tricycle.
Both have been diagnosed with the fatal disease and have been given around three years from diagnosis to live.
The 1000km-plus journey is part of an ambitious fundraising campaign.
The pair wants to raise more than $250,000 to fund research into finding a cure for MND, riding distances of up to 100km a day.
The pair are scheduled to arrive at the Growers' Market in the city centre at noon where they'll be met by Mayor Denise Knight.
Then at 3pm they hit Coffs City Skydivers to jump out of a plane before joining Coffs Rugby Snappers for training from 6pm at Hogbin Dr.
Mr Sullivan and Dr Davis are keen to meet as many locals as possible and get the message out about MND.
So far Mr Sullivan has raised more than $1.2 million which will go towards helping sufferers and funding research into finding a cause and a cure.
Dr Davis has developed a new craft beer, Cavalier Courage, as a means to raise funds.
