Daily News welcomes new editor and general manager

THE Daily News is pleased to announce a new general manager and editor.

Troy Greenland has joined the team as general manager.

Mikarla Marsden has stepped up to editor after almost five years as the paper's chief of staff.

The pair will oversee the Daily News' bumper Saturday edition, website My Daily News and weekly community paper the Tweed Border Mail.

They replace publisher Ron Goodman who has taken up a group role within the Daily News' parent company APN News and Media.

Mr Greenland said he was looking forward to working with local business leaders.

"It's a privilege to be able to move my family back down to the coast," Mr Greenland said.

"It's such a great part of Australia, filled with opportunities for the community and local business."

Mrs Marsden said she was delighted at the opportunity.

"It's an honour to take the reins of the Daily News, especially as we celebrate our 125th year of serving the people of Tweed," Mrs Marsden said.

"The Tweed is a beautiful place to live, work and play and I intend to highlight these attributes and emphasise the positives happening within our community."
